:: WHAT DR. CAFFEY'S PATIENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT US ::

How do you thank someone who saved your life? I'm in the enviable position of contemplating an answer to that question because when I was stricken with cancer 5 years ago I visited with Dr. Soren Caffey.

That day there surely was an angel on my shoulder. Through his perseverance in determining the type of cancer I had (a rare form of lymphoma) and his world class analytical skills, he devised an aggressive treatment plan that enabled me to conquer the awful disease that was ravaging my body.

Through several months of care Dr. Caffey always was available to allay my concerns and answer myriad of question posed by my husband and me. His patience seemed infinite and his concern for me was genuine.

Dr. Caffey is, without doubt, a national treasure.

It's axiomatic that those who are the best in their profession choose to surround themselves with persons who are highly talented. Thus, it follows that Dr. Caffey's staff would be exemplary. And it is. His office manager is of the first order and the nursing staff who administered my chemotherapy was sensible, sensitive and highly skilled.

I'm in remission now and have relocated from Virginia to Florida. No matter, twice a year I travel back to Virginia for check-ups by the gifted man who enabled me to continue with my wonderful life.

Dr Caffey is not only caring but thorough. He always made me at ease and is very easy to talk to. He has never made me feel as if he was in a hurry. Took time to answer my questions...

A little more than 4 years ago I came to you without a diagnosis but I knew I was sick. Prior to my first visit with you I had been to my Internist, an Orthopedic doctor, a Neurologist and the Emergency room.

You were the first doctor to order a barrage of tests to determine my diagnosis and prognosis. It was bleak in the beginning, and I was at peace initially with the news. I was and will remain a stage 4 cancer patient. My cancer was diagnosed as a cancer of unknown primary but the cancer had spread to every bone in my body. My first chemotherapy session led to a week of hospital care at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and was so weak and anemic that I could barely walk the halls of the hospital.

I had given up much hope but determined to get my house in order and take care of my family.

You were the only doctor who did not give up on me. I signed a DNR in the hospital and was probably days away from hospice when I returned home. Your entire practice accepted me and took care of me on a daily basis while I fought back. To this day I am not sure how much calcium I was infused with, but it is safe to say that this calcium rebuilt and remodeled my entire skeleton.

I actually looked forward to coming to your practice because to me it was a safe place and a healing environment. Your excellent staff Marti, Kathy, Lois, Karen and Carolyn became part of my life and family.

I never expected to be in a position to write this letter 48 months later.

Today they call me the "Miracle Man" and I refer to you a the "Miracle Doctor".

No one predicted that I would be where I am today. My internist is simply amazed at my recovery and my Urologist also refers to me as the miracle man. It was not an easy road and I now in a humble way appreciate life and family more than ever.

A year and 3 months later my daughter and I flew to Switzerland to embark on a ten day hike in the Swiss Alps. We hiked over 120 miles and climbed 37000 vertical feet. It was the toughest physical challenge I have ever undertaken, but I was determined to climb the mountains to declare my victory from this cancer.

I could not have made this journey without your personalized care and compassion. I went back to Switzerland in the summer of 2015 to hike another 10 days. I have returned to normal but I will always trust your opinion and advice on how to remain cancer free. I recognize that I am one of the fortunate people who have battled cancer and won.

I owe my life to you and NovaCure! I will always remember you and your amazing practice.

I know that there are a lot of unknowns about cancer, and it is a horrible disease, but I am and will remain eternally grateful to you and everyone at your practice.

Thank you again for never giving up hope and I hope my story will give patients a reason to fight and stay positive.

Thank you again for saving my life, and being there for me every day!

I love Dr. Caffey, he cares about his patients, genuinely and sincerely. He is a fantastic doctor, and human being. God bless him!!!

I was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. After my recurrence and at famous University Cancer Center, without hesitation or conversation, I was told "you're terminal", there is nothing else we can do for you, you have 3-6 months to live.

Now here comes my appointment with Dr. Caffey. After all of that at the University's cancer center, my mind was made up, live the rest of my days with as much pride and dignity as I could which meant no more chemo.

Dr. Caffey did not agree with their opinion and explained to me that he can see hope and a chance of beating this disease. At that time, I felt that this man does not believe in quitting, something that I had as a teacher instilled in my students throughout my career.

The 3-6 months is now going in the direction of 5 years, thanks to Dr. Caffey and his staff.

Once again, thanks Dr. Caffey for seeing what others failed to see.

One of the best physicians I've ever had, Dr. Caffey is very knowledgeable and compassionate. He took time and explained my condition very well. I hope nobody ever gets cancer but he is the greatest to go to.

Dr. Caffey has provided me with excellent service. He is up to date with the latest treat options and free consults with others to confirm his hunches. He takes the time necessary to explain things. I feel fortunate to have been referred to his care by my GP.

Dr. Caffey is a caring, wonderful man. He cares about his patients, and takes deep pride in his work. He is an Angel!!!!

Amazing oncologist. Heard compliments from him at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. I had a rare disorder diagnosed by him and was told at Johns Hopkins the same. He is very well liked by his patients and gave me wonderful care that you'd expect from places like Hopkins. He also has excellent staff, and I would strongly recommend him as a top doctor in Virginia.

Very thorough, caring and compassionate, I would strongly recommend him as an excellent physician.

Wonderful Hematologist, very caring, takes a lot of time with you [and] doesn't rush in and out. I would recommend him highly.

Third, he is comprehensive in his approach and discusses all the alternatives. Fourth, in his office, the waiting time is minimal. His staff and nurses are equaly very friendly and helpful in all respects.
